PD Book and Video

This fall, OTF released two companion pieces, a DVD and a book. A Canadian research consortium, Teacher Learning and Work Group, and the Ontario Teachers’ Federation (OTF) collaborated on the development of a video and book that provide practical application of the research group’s findings into teacher professional development - what works and what doesn’t. The video and book are developed as training tools to assist members involved with planning professional learning opportunities for teachers.

Beyond PD Days: Teachers’ Work and Learning in Canada

This book showcases the results of a decade of federally funded research into workload issues and learning habits of Canadian teachers. It extracts key points for planners of programs for teachers’ ongoing professional learning.

No Two Alike: PD that Works

A 17-minute long video that features interviews with teachers taking part in professional learning programs that work. Researchers identify important elements to consider in developing such programs. Designed as an interactive resource, the insert with the DVD includes printed worksheets to facilitate discussion and assist PD planners in differentiating professional learning programs to meet the needs of experienced, beginning and internationally educated teachers.
